Haven’t picked up your Baader Solar Film yet?
Well NASA has you covered.
Just log to their live webcast of the Transit of Venus.
Safer, more comfortable & more informative than watching yourself.
Listen to the NASA team as the describe the history and importance of this event.
The images are coming live from the NASA IRTF telescope high atop Mauna Kea in Hawaii.
Also fun: seeing guys shivering in heavy parkas…in Hawaii!
The telescope is at 14,000 feet.
Note: *exposed black & white* film I’m told is NOT A GOOD OPTION to filter the sun during Transit of Venus. Given that Venus will cover ALMOST NONE of the disk of the sun, any viewer, telescope or camera will be looking at the full power of the sun. So be sure to only use viewers specifically designed for watching the sun.
